About

Financial Architecture
Meets Coastal Roots

"We returned to build what the market was missing — not just a buyer, but an operator with the financial infrastructure to treat this fishery like the premium asset it is."

Instinción Trading Co. was founded on a single insight: the Yucatán octopus market produces a legally protected, world-class product — and exports it as an undifferentiated commodity. The gap between dock price and international retail represents decades of missed value.

We close that gap through vertical integration. A certified processing facility, direct cooperative supply agreements, lot-level traceability from boat to container, and export relationships across the US, Europe, and Japan — operated by a team with deep roots in the Yucatecan fishing community and financial experience in international commodity markets.

The Protected Geographical Indication granted in 2024 — Mexico's first for any fishery product — gives Pulpo Maya the same legal standing as Champagne or Roquefort. Instinción is built to capture that premium.
